Break Free

On September 2nd through the 11th, ARISE Beirut hosted a lifestyle consultant training class to prepare people who were interested in being a part of a health-outreach program called “Break Free”.

Sebastian Arenas, a volunteer from Columbia, recalls his experiences as he went through the Break Free training class and spent three months doing door-to-door outreach in the community:

“Break Free is not just a health program; it is a key that God uses to open the doors of homes where there are sick hearts longing to be healed by the healing hand; and its soul hopes to see the glory of Jesus.

It has been a great pleasure for me to receive training in the Break Free program because it has shown me that people not only need to be spoken to about God; but also that in a living, physical, and evident way I can teach them and show them that God has for that person plans and thoughts greater than their own.

I am convinced that God wants to restore the health of people who are sick because of sin, and when this happens—when people feel healthy—they can honor and understand that God cares for their life and health because He is a loving Father.

Through hydrotherapy, advice on good nutrition, massage, exercise and motivation to change for the better their lifestyle, the Break Free Program aims to not only prolong life, but also improve the quality of life. Above all, Break Free is about guiding people to Christ. A heart can be reached; a door of a home can be opened, and this home will be surrendered to Christ. Because we are in a place where the name of Jesus is heard very rarely, doing good is a very good technique to win a heart for heaven.

While I win a heart for heaven, God will perform the transforming work in me; I have personal experience that my faith was tested, but for divine reasons. Before I boarded my flight from Colombia to Lebanon, a few hours earlier I did not have the visa in my hands, and without a visa I could not travel. But we prayed to God, and hours before the flight I had the visa in my hands and arrived without any trouble here to prepare myself to serve others, sharing with them my health knowledge that has been refined by the Break Free program.
