The FIFA World Cup is much more than a sporting competition. Every four years, it brings together people from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds around a shared passion for football. It is a global celebration of competition, friendship, and the connections that sport can create between people. This year’s World Cup, hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada, was another example of how football can bring different communities together.
At ARISE Beirut, we took this opportunity to celebrate the sport we love while creating a space for people from different backgrounds to come together. Throughout the World Cup, the doors of our main auditorium were open to people of all nationalities and ethnicities, providing a welcoming place to watch the games and share the excitement of the tournament.
Over the course of the World Cup, we welcomed more than 300 people. Latinos, Europeans, Asians, Indians, Lebanese, and members of many other international communities joined us throughout the tournament. Beyond watching football together, the experience gave us the opportunity to meet new people, connect with our neighbors, and strengthen relationships within the diverse community around Sharaftouna.
For us, this is an important part of what ARISE Beirut is about: creating opportunities for people to meet, share experiences, and build meaningful connections. The World Cup gave us a great opportunity to do exactly that.
We were happy to open our doors to our friends, neighbors, and the wider international community, and we look forward to creating many more opportunities for people to come together in the future!
